Tech for Impact:
Learn STEM + Entrepreneurial Thinking to Create Real Social Impact

WomenX Biotech, in collaboration with the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP), is launching the 10 Days & 4 Days "Tech for Impact: STEM Entrepreneurial Stewardship" Programmes. Designed for students aged 15 and above, it provides professional training in biotechnology, artificial intelligence, and social innovation.

Through hands-on experiments at the Science Park, designing feminine hygiene products, assembling vending machines, and learning problem-solving thinking and creativity from entrepreneurs, students will not only master STEM knowledge but also focus on product safety testing and how to use knowledge to address social needs.

What makes the programme special?

1. Hands-on Experience with Real Hong Kong Running Tech Projects
Students will focus on menstrual health issues and personally participate in the full product development process — from concept to finished product. This includes laboratory bacterial testing, product design, and assembling + applying an IoT-based sanitary pad vending machine system, allowing students to truly "learn by doing."

2. Interdisciplinary STEM Integration
Combining biotechnology, artificial intelligence, product design, and social innovation to develop students’ ability to use technology to solve real-world social problems.

3. Cultivating Entrepreneurial Thinking, Problem-Solving, and Leadership Skills
Through entrepreneurship training and teamwork, students will not only learn technical skills but also gain experience in leadership, project management, and creating social impact.

Who is suitable for the programme?

This programme is ideal for students aged 15 and above who are interested in STEM, social innovation, entrepreneurship, and gender health equality, and who want to use technology to create positive social impact.

Tech for Impact Programmes:

1. 10 Days Tech for Impact Summer Programme [Details here]

Students will personally participate in the complete development process from concept to product, including laboratory bacterial testing, feminine hygiene product design, and assembling + applying an IoT sanitary pad vending machine system.

The sanitary pad vending machines designed by the students will be installed in schools. Through real usage data, the programme’s long-term impact will be comprehensively evaluated, turning students’ work into real social enterprise cases to measure the social value and well-being outcomes created.

We will additionally provide 1,000 free sanitary pads to the school as encouragement for the students’ efforts.

Students who complete the programme will receive a personal recommendation letter handwritten by Dr. Pui-Wah Choi, Founder of WomenX Biotech, and a joint certificate from WomenX Biotech and HKSTP.

2. 4 Days Tech for Impact Experience Camp [Details here]

Students will conduct experiments at the Science Park, learn how current tech companies operate, and acquire problem-solving mindsets from entrepreneurs. In addition to mastering STEM knowledge, they will focus on product safety testing and thinking about how to use knowledge to solve social needs.

Students who complete the programme will receive a joint certificate from WomenX Biotech and HKSTP.

• Judy Wong: AI & STEM Trainer, Lecturer at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Former Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union Robotics Competition Champion, Women Techmakers Ambassador

• Dr. Pui-Wah Choi: Founder of WomenX Biotech, Harvard University Postdoctoral Fellow, Lecturer at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Biomedical Scientist and Female Tech Pioneer

• Dr. Rebecca Lee: PhD in Basic Biology (Japan), over 15 years of experience in medical diagnostics and rare diseases

• Michelle Chan: Over 10 years of experience in PR and marketing, former in-house and advisory roles in Hong Kong startups

1. Choose your course (10-day Stewardship or 4-day Experience Camp) and pay a deposit online (fully refundable if you decide not to join).

2. You will receive an email invitation to join an online briefing webinar.

3. After attending the webinar, complete payment via FPS or cheque to finalise your registration.
